The New, Distant You….

A red, metal heart,
A rare smile,
Mean words,
Those proud eyes.

He ruins my day,
He screams for lies,
Alone he should live,
They added to my mind.

There I was standing,
From a distance, he permits,
Their words, still hard to believe,
So, I paused, before I rhymed.

The tug of war, in my mind,
On one end their words,
On the other, my inner voice,
Reigned as they stole, my sleep every night.

That day, facing the day light,
I quietly observed, sharpening my sight,
As I stepped close, the heart was bright,
What happened next, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Yes, that heart was of silver metal,
Covered with blood, so precious,
Not coated, but pierced,
With sharp swords, of love and fear.

As I observed close, I see it’s severe,
They need to be pulled out, one by one,
And stitched carefully, with nothing but love,
I didn’t know how to react, when you proved what I found.

I wish I could tell you, I sneaked in and out,
Not just a day, but for months,
Am I overthinking, am I wrong?
I’ll never know, cause I fear,
Losing the new, distant you, I’ve figured out.

Oh, Sweet Maiden!

A burning flame, Glaring at, the steaming lane, The land of all, massacred slaves, Ripped by love, the origin of fate. Oh, that land, the rose crammed bed, Jammed with laughs, and smiles unshed, Pure as the heart, of an infant at rest, Led by the God, of foul prospects. The enchanter, of the dark, To the illusion, of a delicate arch, With the maiden, of sweetness at heart, Stepped in to, a mirrored witchcraft. Swinging and swaying, the ballerina passionate, Sliding and leaping, the pianist considerate, Stumbling and collapsing, the maiden naïve and laid, Weeping and hollering, through the crack sorcery reigns. Maiden, sweet maiden, dumbstruck, betrayed, Threw fits at the mirrors, of the enchanted cave, Left at the wilderness, to wither and break, Oh, sweet maiden, Queen Insane. -Nataliya Ludwick- @thepoeticvoyage

The Untold Goodbyes...

To the sky, a gun was fired, A bird shot down, tangled on a wire, Bidding farewell, to the life he desired, He missed a beat, that the heart required. A frizzy worm fell, off his beak, A drizzle of hay, slipt from his feet, The flock flew away, with cries and screams, While baby bird in the nest, longed for his meal. That innocent soul, lifted into the skies, With desires, hopes, and  baby bird in mind, The skies absorbed, the sorrows with sighs, And mourns reigned, for an untold good bye. Tear drops escaped, the eyes of the sky, Rain drops fell, on the nest so fragile, Baby bird wondered, why isn't dad on time, Until the nest fell off, while his broken heart cried. Lying on, the muddy floor, Looking up, he saw a door, That opened wide, with a bright glow, With four wings spread wide, and a cheerful hello. A sweet chirp said, "come darling let's go", Another said "Dads with you, our little fellow",...

Your Only Choice...

Looking at the clock, Trying hard to stop, The time that runs, With more to be done. Staring at the setting sun, The wind conveys, the night has begun, Fakely accepting, the praises that surrounds, With regrets about, the things undone. The curious eyes, started her chase, Girls with grins, running out of the gates, Guys crawled in, with their long face, Another hopped to shop, with the money he made. The doves flew towards their cage, Owls flew out, with their scary gaze, They all switched shifts, each and every day, For nature's company, isn't that great? When things take place, in unexpected ways, Good things take time, is what they say, Sorrow and joy, may join the same day, Life needs the company of patience, is what I say, In this life things may delay,  But your only choice is to stay. -Debra R.
